Services will be Saturday in Picayune for Ella Marie Formby, 5, the daughter of Lourie Formby, a former fulltime administrative officer at the National Guard Armony here.

Formby served with the 298th Corps Support Battalion in Iraq in 2004-05.

He, his wife, Julie, and Ella of Sumrall were traveling in a 1940 Studebaker when it was struck from behind by an alleged drunken driver on Friday, Jan. 25 on Mississippi 44 in Improve.

Julie was thrown from the vehicle and was flown to Forrest General Hospital. Lourie and Ella were taken to Forrest General by ambulance. Ella and Julie were later transferred to University Medical Center.

Ella died Monday.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday night at First Baptist Church of Sumrall.

The times for both services had not been set at press time.

Larry Mills, who served in the 298th with Formby, said area Guardsmen were quite saddened when they learned of Ella's death.

"Everybody has been touched," he said. "Lou was a really good guy to work for. He was really dedicated to his job. It is a terrible situation."
