A Preston man was killed in an automobile accident Sunday afternoon.

Lonnie L. "Lee" Long, 20, 340 McDonald Road, was killed in a one-vehicle accident around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Sgt. Ronnie Carter of the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Long was driving a 2000 Chevrolet.

The accident occurred on Mississippi 397 in Kemper County, nine miles west of DeKalb. Long was transported to Neshoba County General Hospital where he died.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.

Carter said Long is the only fatality on Kemper County roads so far this year.

Long was a 2000 graduate of Kemper Academy where he played baseball. A former student at East Central Community College in Decatur, he was a student at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba.

Long was a member of Coye Assembly of God Church in Preston.

Services for were held Monday afternoon from Coye Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Lawrence Pool and the Rev. Ray Luke officiated.

Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Survivors include his parents, Lonnie and Jan Long of Preston.
