One man has been charged and another is being sought in connection with an armed robbery which occurred at the Pow Wow on Mississippi 16 west late Monday night.

Manuel Shoemake, 23, of Duplex Circle, Choctaw, was charged with armed robbery and arson on Tuesday.

Sheriff's Investigator Ralph Sciple said Shoemake is charged with taking an undetermined amount of money, some cigarettes and a Mazda Tribute from the Pow Wow about 11:30 p.m. Monday night.

Authorities are looking for his accomplice.

The vehicle was found in a wooded area Tuesday in the western part of the county on the Pearl River Reservation.

"Two males came in to the Pow Wow, one had a gun," Sciple said. "They went behind the counter and demanded money. They took an employee's keys and stole the vehicle.

"They attempted to burn the vehicle but they closed the door and the fire couldn't get air so it went out."

Anyone with information on the incident was asked to call the Sheriff's office at 601-656-1414.
