Restoration efforts kicked off last week at the historic Ellis Theatre, the first phase of construction on Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music.

As a result, officials are now selling off the old seats for $25 each, giving individuals an opportunity to own a piece of history.

“The public is invited to take home a piece of Philadelphia history by purchasing the original theater seats, which will soon be replaced as part of the update,” Tim Moore with Community Development Partnership announced this week.

“The Ellis Theater is part of the soul of Philadelphia,” Stuart said. “Incorporation into the Congress of Country Music will give the Ellis new life and a continued role in Philadelphia’s history.”

There are 350 seats available for purchase.

Individuals interested in purchasing a seat can contact the CDP at 601-656-1000.
