Sta-Home Volunteers

A Private Applicator Certification class will be taught on Tuesday, Feb. 18 beginning at 4 p.m. in the Neshoba County Coliseum multi-purpose room. Individuals wishing to obtain private applicator certification may call the Extension Service office at 656-4602 to pre-register for this training. The cost for the class is $10 and it is payable the day of the class.

Individuals who require special accommodations to participate should contact the Extension office to make their request known prior to the program. Contact should be made timely to ensure appropriate accommodation.

ECCC Offers 'HVAC Enhancement' Class

Evening instruction in the maintenance and repair of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems is being offered at the East Central Community College Productivity Enhancement Lab located at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career-Technical Center.

Classes will be held on eight consecutive Mondays beginning on Feb. 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. Paul Evans, Advanced Skills Trainer, will serve as instructor.

Cost of the class is $150. There is an additional $35 cost for the optional EPA testing offered at the end of class.

"First Steps - the Process of Starting a Small Business" is the topic of a workshop scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 18 sponsored by East Central Community College's Small Business Development Center.

Leake Academy Kindergarten Open House

An open house will be held on Feb. 6 from 6-7 p.m. at the Leake Academy Kindergarten building.

The Park Commission has begun its baseball/softball spring program for boys ages 4-13 and girls ages 4-16. This includes tee ball and instruction leagues. Registration will end March 1.

Costs for ages 4 to 5 is $45 and for ages 6 and over, $70.

Baseball is for boys ages 4-13 on May 1, 2014. Softball is for girls ages 4-16 on Jan. 1, 2014.

There will be at $10 late fee after March 1.

Registration will be at city hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday through Friday and at Northside Park senior citizens building from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Feb. 22 and March 1.

There is a $45 entry fee. Uniform is not included. Soccer is for boys and girls ages 4-14 on Aug. 31, 2013.

Age groups for teams will be the same as fall season.


The American Legion Post 128 and ladies auxiliary will meet Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. A potluck meal will be served.

A service of remembrance will be held to honor the four military chaplains who gave to others their very own life jackets when the troop ship they were on was sinking.

Break Every Chain Woman's Conference

Break Every Chain is a free woman's conference dedicated to inspire, encourage, and empower woman to help one another break the chains in life that prevent a closer relationship with the Lord.
