Mt. Zion Fall Carnival

PHS Class of 1973
The PHS Class of 1973 will celebrate their 40th reunion the weekend of Oct. 18-20. We are still trying to locate and contact some of our classmates and teachers. If you know how we might contact any of the following fold, either by email or phone, we would greatly appreciate your help! SUPPORT FOR FALL FUN DAY NEEDED
This is the eighth year for the Fall Fun Day for special needs youth of Neshoba County. It will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 in the Neshoba County Coliseum. Assistance from church groups, civic clubs, families and others is requested to conduct various activity booths for the children that morning from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. Sponsorships for this event are also requested. This project is sponsored by the Neshoba County, Philadelphia and Choctaw Disability Children's Foundation.
Fall revival is set at Golden Grove Methodist Protestant Church, Union, Oct. 14-18. Services will be led by Rev. Frank Gerald. Dinner fellowship will be each night at 6 p.m. and worship service will begin at 6:30 p.m. each night.
Pine Grove Church of God-Edinburg invites everyone to attend their homecoming services on Oct. 20 beginning at 10 a.m. Annie McRae, Christian singer and songwriter, will be the special guest.

North Calvary Revival
North Calvary Baptist Church will have revival services on Nov. 10-15. The services on Sunday, Nov. 10 will be at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
A potluck lunch will follow the Sunday morning service. Services Monday through Friday will be at 12 noon and will include a sandwich and chips lunch and at 7 p.m. Bro. Hubert Yates will be the speaker and Karen Cumberland will be in charge of the music.
The congregation and pastor of North Calvary extend an invitation to the community to participate in these services.
ECCC Offers 'QuickBooks' at Philadelphia
A "QuickBooks Class" with is being offered at ECCC's Integrated Technologies Training Center (ITTC) located at 377 Industrial Drive in Choctaw and is sponsored by the ECCC's Small Business Development Center. Topics to be covered include invoicing and payments, reports and graphs, accounts payable, inventory, and more.
Classes will be held on eight consecutive Tuesdays beginning on Oct. 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Cost of the class is $125.

ECCC Offers FREE 'First Steps' Workshop In Philadelphia
Are you interested in starting your own business but don't know where to begin? "First Steps - the Process of Starting a Small Business" is the topic of a FREE workshop scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 22 sponsored by East Central Community College's Small Business Development Center.
Ronald B. Westbrook, SBDC director, will be the speaker at the free information session scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Neshoba Business Enterprise Center located in the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Industrial Park.

First Baptist Church, Philadelphia Revival
Revival services will be held at First Baptist Church, Philadelphia on Oct. 20-23. Sunday services will be at 11 am and 6 pm. Services on Monday - Wednesday will be at 6:30 pm. Revival preacher will be Dr. Jim Futral and guest music leader will be Franklin Denham. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Philadelphia Rotary Club's annual pancake supper will be Monday Oct. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The supper will be in the senior citizens center at Northside Park. Tickets for dine in or carry-out are $5 and can be purchased from a Rotarian or at the door.
Spears Family Reunion
The family of Jay Lee Spears and Ruby Ida (Jones) Spears will have their family reunion at the Beatline Baptist Church family life center on Sunday, Oct. 20. All friends and relatives are invited. Please bring a covered dish.
Benefit Ride for Mikey Keen
A benefit ride for Mikey Keen will be held Oct. 26, leaving out at 10 a.m. from Penny Wrights in Rosebud. $10 per rider. Kids 12 and under free.
Black Voices at Pleasant Valley
We the Pleasant Valley M.B. There will be a revival at Salem Baptist Church, Burnside, beginning Sunday night Oct. 20 -23. Sunday night service is at 6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. Visiting preacher is Hugh Yates and songleader will be Kinsey Goldman. Salem's pastor is Duaine Morgan.
Singing at Cedar Hill
Southern Heritage will be in concert at Cedar Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Riding with open arms trail ride
The benefit ride for Open Arms Children's Christmas Ministry will be Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. for $10 per person. Wagons are welcomed.
It will be at Ginger and Larry Phillipson's in Noxapater. To get there travel north on Mississippi 15, turn right on Road 832 at Stallo and if traveling south on Mississippi 15, turn left onto Road 832. Travel 6.2 miles and park at the chicken houses.
Watch for directional signs. Each paid participent will be entered into a drawing for a Yeti cooler, donated by Ivey Mechanical of Kosciusko. Drawing will be held at the Swap meet on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.

East Neshoba Fire Department will sponsor a trail ride on Nov. 9 at Sunset Arena beginning at 10 a.m.
The cost is $5 per person and kids six and under ride free. Stew will be served after the ride. Everyone welcome to bring wagon, horse, mule or donkey and stay Friday night.
The ride will leave the arena, located just off Highway 16 east in Philadelphia, take Highway 491 north and then to three miles and turn left on county Road 2645.

Selection for Neshoba County's Miss Hospitality 2014 will begin soon. This scholarship program represents Neshoba County and competes at the state level for title of Mississippi's Miss Hospitality.
