Lynville School Reunion
The annual Lynville School reunion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the school. Any student who attended the school or teacher who taught is welcome for the event. The reunion begins at 11 a.m. and continues through 1 p.m. Many people have worked diligently so that the meeting can be held in the school.
The meal will be catered for $10 and will include a choice of meat and two vegetables. Please let someone listed below know by Sept. 25 so that we can have an accurate account. Please bring a lawn chair so you can visit with your former friends and classmates. Selection for Neshoba County's Miss Hospitality 2014 will begin soon. This scholarship program represents Neshoba County and competes at the state level for title of Mississippi's Miss Hospitality. Philadelphia-Neshoba County Arts Council will hold Octoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 19 at DeWeese Park (next to library). There will be lots of great food, entertainment, children's games and arts and crafts.

First Church of God, located 435 Columbus Ave., will sponsor a Holiday Marketplace featuring unique arts and crafts, gift items Saturday, Dec. 7 from 8a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Neshoba Central "Big Blue" Alumni Reunion
Band directors Daniel Wade, Scott Sullender and Mrs. Amanda May would like to invite all Neshoba Central High School Band Alumni to join "Big Blue" for our second annual reunion, Friday, Oct. 4. We will march in with the "Big Blue" Marching Band and can play with the band during first, second quarters and during halftime on the field! Community Clothing Outreach
The Word of God Church at 231 Line St. has a community clothing outreach every Saturday from 8-12. The clothing is donated from the community. A 50 cent donation is asked for each piece to help in the ministry of the church. For more information, call 601-575-1942.
Community Bible Study

Mt. Zion Fall Carnival

SERVSAFE FOOD SAFETY CERTIFICATION
A one-day ServSafe Food Safety Certification class will be held in Philadelphia in the Neshoba County Coliseum multi-purpose room on Nov. 15. The registration deadline is Oct. 15. Open House at Philadelphia-Neshoba County Career Technical Center
The Philadelphia-Neshoba County Career Technical Center will hold "Open House" on Monday, Oct. 14 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. The Career Technical Center is located at 900 Valley View Drive in Philadelphia.
The center serves high school students from the local high school and offers the following technical programs: Automotive Service Technology, Construction Technology/Carpentry, Early Childhood Development, Health Sciences, Metal Fabrication /Manufacturing Technology, and Teacher Academy.
All students, parents, and community members are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
The Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career Technical Center is a division of East Central Community College.
White Family Reunion

It's almost here! The PHS Class of 1973 will celebrate their 40th reunion the weekend of Oct. 18-20. We are still trying to locate and contact some of our classmates and teachers. LIBRARY PRESCHOOL STORY TIME
The Neshoba County Library will have preschool story time on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. beginning in September. Kids are invited to come for a special story and activity following. For more information call 601-656-4911.
The Neshoba County Soil and Water Conservation District will be taking tree orders through Oct. 15.
You can come by the office to place your order from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday or call us at 601-656-8783 Ext. 3 and we will fax, e-mail or mail you an order form to you.
The office is located at 511 East Lawn Drive in the USDA Building. We are asking that you pay for the trees when placing your order.
The trees are bare root trees and will arrive in February 2014. By ordering bulk wholesale we can pass the savings on to you. Proceeds from tree sales will help support educational programs throughout the year.
You can drop by the office and pick up a list of trees that we will be selling this year or if there is a particular tree that you are wanting, that is not on the list, we can try to order it.

Word of God Community Outreach
Come browse through our clothing community outreach. You will find many name brand clothing. The community outreach is open each Saturday morning from 8 a.m.-12 noon located at 23 Line Ave. Everything is donated from our loving community of people to help our church ministry. SUPPORT FOR FALL FUN DAY NEEDED
This is the eighth year for the Fall Fun Day for special needs youth of Neshoba County. It will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 in the Neshoba County Coliseum. Assistance from church groups, civic clubs, families and others is requested to conduct various activity booths for the children that morning from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. Sponsorships for this event are also requested. This project is sponsored by the Neshoba County, Philadelphia and Choctaw Disability Children's Foundation.

NESHOBA COUNTY SOIL & WATER ANNUAL
In spite of the Government shut down the Neshoba County Soil & Water Conservation District will be hosting their annual awards banquet on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Neshoba County Coliseum. The Banquet will begin at 6 p.m. All members are invited to attend this annual event.

VFW Yard Sale
VFW Post 4396 will have a yard sale on Oct. 11-12 to raise money for its relief fund that is established for all beterans in Neshoba County only to include the nursing home as well.
VFW Post and Auxiliary will be set up at Wal-Mart on Oct. 19 to also raise funds for the auxiliaries relief fund. There is still a Veterans Service Officer at the VFW Post each Monday and Tuesday, free of charge, to assist all veterans with all their VA needs.
The post will also be hosting a food pantry in order to get out there and distribute to our veterans in need. Drop off for any non-perishable food will also be on Mondays and Tuesdays at the post.

You are invited to attend the annual homecoming celebration at Good Hope Baptist Church on Sunday, Oct. 13. 20th Annual Dowdle Reunion
Descendents of William John Dowdle and Catherine Pace Dowdle will meet Saturday, Oct. 12 at Lucern Clubhouse, Union. All family members and friends are invited to attend.

North Calvary Homecoming
North Calvary Baptist Church will have homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. Bro. Michael Wells will be the speaker and Terry Nowell will be in charge of music. New County Line Baptist Homecoming

Mt. Carmel Homecoming
Mt. Carmel Baptist Church of Edinburg will be celebrating their homecoming on Oct. 13. The homecoming speaker will be Bro. Randal Creel.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. There will be no Sunday School or any evening services on that day.
The American Legion Post 138 and Ladies Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. for our regular monthly meeting. Supper will be served consisting of potluck dishes and desserts. Prospective new members are encouraged to attend and consider joining the local post.
East Neshoba Fire Department will sponsor a trail ride on Nov. 9 at Sunset Arena beginning at 10 a.m.
The cost is $5 per person and kids six and under ride free. Stew will be served after the ride. Everyone welcome to bring wagon, horse, mule or donkey and stay Friday night.
The ride will leave the arena, located just off Highway 16 east in Philadelphia, take Highway 491 north and then to three miles and turn left on county Road 2645.

The annual reunion of the descendants of Jim and Bertie Clark will be held Sunday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. from Union Community Center at the park. North Bend UMC Annual Fundraiser Fish Plates and Auction
Members of North Bend United Methodist Church are now selling tickets for their annual fundraiser - fish plates with all of the trimmings. The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the North Bend UMC fellowship center.
Tickets can be bought from any member of North Bend UMC for $8 each. Meals can be bought "to go" or dine in with us at North Bend UMC.
