Beacon Street Church Homecoming

Beacon Street Church will hold its homecoming on Sept. 8. Sunday School is at 9:45 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Guest speaker is former Pastor Bro. Alex Lawson. A meal will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. Please come and celebrate 65 years at Beacon Street.

Pine Road Church of God Dixon will have its homecoming services on Sept. 15 at 10:30 a.m. with lunch. Following revival services begin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 7 p.m. on Sept. 16-18. The speaker will be the Rev. Jerry Germany.



McCRORY REUNION

Masquerade Jewelry and Accessories Sale

The Neshoba County General Hospital Relay Team is sponsoring a Masquerade Jewelry and Accessories Sale on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 12 and 13 in the Pear View Café.  Doors will be open 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days.  Cash and credit cards are welcome.  No checks please.  Everything is $5.

Experience the Frenzy and help support our Relay Team.  All proceeds benefit the 2014 Relay Team of Neshoba County General Hospital - Nursing Home.

 

ECCC offers Welding Class

Instruction in MIG, TIG, stick, and gas welding is being offered at the East Central Community College Productivity Enhancement Lab located at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career-Technical Center.

Registration will be held on Monday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m.  Classes will be held for eight consecutive weeks, from 6 to 9 p.m.  

Joseph Irby will serve as instructor.

Cost of the class is $150.

Home Maintenance and Repair Class 

"Home Maintenance and Repair" is the topic of a new eight week class designed to cover topics such as how to replace or install a wall switch for lighting, how to use a multimeter, replacing and repairing faucets, installing shut-off valve for sink, toilet supply line, minor sheetrock repair, and much more. The class is being offered the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career & Technical Center in Philadelphia.

Classes will begin Monday, Sept. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. Classes will run for eight consecutive weeks.  James Boykin, will be serving as instructor.

Cost of the class is $150.

4-D NBHA SANCTIONED BARREL RUN

A 4-D NBHA Sanctioned Barrel Run will be held Saturday, Sept. 7. It will begin with trainer barrels at 9 a.m. and the the open barrels will begin at 1 p.m. There will be $1,500 money added. This Barrel Run is open to everyone and members of the NBHA (National Barrel Horse Association) can receive points for their participation.

In addition to the open barrels division there will be divisions for beginners, youth ages 18 and under, and seniors, age 50 and older. For more information you can call (601) 656-4602. This event is sponsored by the Neshoba County 4-H Horse Club.



WILKERSON WARD REUNION

The Tom and Pearl Wilkerson Ward annual family reunion will be Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at the park pavilion in Union. All relatives and friends are asked to bring their covered dish and old pictures and enjoy the day with us.



RHODES FAMILY REUNION

Agriculture Recognition Day

Neshoba County Farm Bureau would like to invite you to the Neshoba County Farm Bureau Agriculture Recognition Day on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Neshoba County Coliseum. The main speaker will be Mississippi's Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture, Andy Prosser. Missionary Ministry Program

Mt. The Mt. Nebo M.B. Church will have a rummage sale at 231 Wilson Street in Philadelphia on Sat., Sept. 7 beginning at 6 a.m. The rummage sale will include a variety of household items. All proceeds will benefit the Mt. Nebo M.B. Church missionary society.



Lynville School Reunion

Small Engine Repair Class

Instruction in small engine repair, including the theory of operation, carboration, ignition systems, and internal engine components, is being offered at the East Central Community College Productivity Enhancement Lab located at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career-Technical Center.

Classes will be held on eight consecutive Thursdays beginning on Sept. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. Gary Sanford will be serving as instructor.

Cost of the class is $150.

Electrical Theory Class

An "Electrical Theory Class," consisting of the Principles of AC and DC electricity used for power and controls in industrial, commercial, agricultural and residential applications is being offered at ECCC's Integrated Technologies Training Center (ITTC) located in Choctaw. The training is designed to cover topics such as Ohm's Law, Kirchoff's Law, series and parallel circuits, induction and capacitance, calculating current and voltage drops, using various electrical meters to troubleshoot and diagnose circuit problems, and electric controls that will explore the ladder logic used to safely operate machinery with the use of relays, timers, push buttons, and safety interlocks. The class is being offered through East Central Community College's Workforce Development Center.

Registration will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 beginning at 5 p.m. at ITTC.  Classes will meet each Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will run for twelve consecutive weeks.  Class meetings will be available simultaneously through the use of video-conferencing equipment made possible through the Community Based Job Training Grant at our Carthage and Louisville Career Advancement Centers, and main campus in Decatur for those living outside Neshoba County.

Blake Warren, Advanced Skills Trainer, will be serving as instructor.

Cost of the class is $175.  Financial assistance may be available.

SUPPORT FOR FALL FUN DAY NEEDED

This is the eighth year for our Fall Fun Day for special needs youth of Neshoba County. It will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 in the Neshoba County Coliseum. Assistance from church groups, civic clubs, families and others is requested to conduct various activity booths for the children that morning from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. Sponsorships for this event are also requested. Miss Hospitality

Selection for Neshoba County's Miss Hospitality, 2014 will begin soon. This Scholarship program represents Neshoba County and competes at the state level for title of Mississippi's Miss Hospitality. American Legion Post 138 and Ladies Auxiliary Meeting

The American Legion Post 138 and Ladies Auxilary will meet Tuesday night, Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. for our regular monthly meeting. The meal will consist of potluck and desserts. The ladies auxiliary will be honoring several members of the JROTC from Neshoba Central that helped with the poppy sale. All members are encouraged to attend.
