Class of 1973 Reunion
The Philadelphia High School Class of 1973 will be having their 40th reunion, the weekend of Oct. 18-20 (PHS 2013 Homecoming).
In addition to all of the graduating classmates, anyone who was in school at PHS (but may not have actually graduated from PHS) is invited.

Youth football and cheer
Neshoba County Youth Football and Cheer is offering an early bird registration of $50 for football and $75 for cheerleading. Registration will be held every Saturday at 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. unless weather condition occurs.
After that the price for football is $65 and cheerleading is $100. Registration will be held on the old soccer field at Northside park. NESHOBA COUNTY FARMERS' MARKET
The Neshoba County Farmers' Market is open and will remain open through August.
The Market is located behind the Farm Bureau office located on Highway 16 east. The market is open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 6 a.m. until all produce is sold. Vegetables expected to be available at the market this week include string beans, squash, cabbage, onions, potatoes, peppers, cucumbers and possibly tomatoes.
Searching for Descendants
I am searching for descendants of William Nance, born in Kemper County Mississippi in 1875, and Mollie Nance Litchfield, born in Kemper County in 1864. They were children of Richard Davner Nance, Sr. and Mary Jane Mayo Nance.

Addiction Recovery Classes
Twelve Steps to G.R.A.C.E (Godly Recovery Applying Christ's Example) is held each Thursday evening beginning at 6 p.m. with a meal for participants with program starting at 6:30 and ending at 7:30.

'HVAC Enhancement' Class
Evening instruction in the maintenance and repair of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems is being offered at the East Central Community College Productivity Enhancement Lab located at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career-Technical Center.
Classes will be held on eight consecutive Tuesdays beginning on July 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. Paul Evans, Advanced Skills Trainer, will serve as instructor.
Cost of the class is $150. There is an additional $35 cost for the optional EPA testing offered at the end of class.

OSHA 10 Hour Training
OSHA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, training is designed to teach safety awareness and to help each worker recognize and reduce the risks of jobsite hazards. Topics to be covered are bleed borne pathogens, exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention plans, fire protection, electrical, flammable and combustible liquids, hazard communication, machine guarding, personal protective equipment, safety and health programs, and walking-working surfaces. The class is being offered through East Central Community College's Workforce Development Center and being held at the Integrated Technologies Training Center (ITTC) in Choctaw.
Training will begin Tuesday, July 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. and will run for two consecutive weeks meeting on both Tuesday AND Thursday evenings (four sessions). Matthew Shelley, Authorized Trainer, will be serving as instructor.
Cost of the class is $50.

Independence Day Celebration
Lena's 36th annual Independence Day Celebration is set for Thursday, July 4. The Theme for this year is "We Believe In God In Country." Registration for the auto show begins at 8 a.m. with the arts and crafts opening at 9 a.m. Opening ceremony begins at 11 a.m. with entertainment beginning at noon. The conclusion of the day's events is at 9 p.m. with one of Central Mississippi's largest fireworks displays, donations are not required, but are definitely appreciated.
The price for full-pay student lunches will increase from $1.75 to $2 in the Philadelphia Public School District beginning with the 2013-2014 school year.
No other meal prices will increase.
This increase will become effective on the first day of school, Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Annual Thomas Family Reunion
The descendants of William Washington and Lena Catherina Phillips Thomas, whose children are George Washington Thomas, James Allen Thomas, William Melton Thomas, Albert Miles Thomas, Frances Jane Thomas Brantley, Dock Kelly Thomas, and Columbus Thomas will hold the annual Thomas family reunion at the Madden Lions Club at Madden on Sunday, July 21 at 11 a.m.
