Bingo Night

Calling all senior citizens ages 60 and up. Come join us every Thursday at 6 p.m. for a fun night of Bingo and a chance to win great prizes. While in Iraq he was captured, but by the love and grace of God, he was able to escape. Youth Basketball

Neshoba County/ Philadelphia Youth Basketball Organization is now taking registration applications for children ages 6-17 for the 2012-2013 season until Nov. 28

You can register at City Hall Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at the Senior Citizens building located at Northside Park from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Registration fee is $25.

On Nov. 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon you can register at the Booker T. Washington Gym, also we will conduct a meeting for all persons interested in volunteering or coaching the 2012-13 Basketball League. Youth Fire Awareness

Everyone is invited to the East Neshoba Volunteer Fire Department's annual "Youth Fire Awareness" program on Nov. 17 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. We will be located at our Station #1 on the right side of Mississippi 16 East about 10 miles from Philadelphia.

We will provide fire awareness information and will have fire trucks, tankers and fire personnel available for the youth to look at and talk with. Additionally, the Philadelphia Fire Department's Rescue Truck and a Neshoba County Sheriff's Department patrol car will be available so attendees can see other support available in Neshoba County.

Carthage Christmas Celebration

Christmas Hits Carthage in a Big Way: the festivities kick-off on Friday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting.

This will feature a children's choir made up of children from area churches. After the Tree lighting the annual Carthage/Leake County Christmas Parade will take place.

On Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 3 and 4, Carthage Christian Academy in conjunction with the Leake County Foundation will present the play "How the Grouch Found Christmas."

Show times are 7 p.m. both nights at the Old Elementary School. On Wednesday, Dec. 5, the Leake County Ministerial Alliance will host "The Christmas Story in Scripture" at 6 p.m. in Sasser Park.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, Carthage Main Street will host their annual Sippin Cider with more than 20 businesses participating in the annual event to see whose Christmas Cider is the Best.

Friday, Dec. 7, brings "Christmas with Disney" sponsored by the Leake County Health Network. It will begin at 6 p.m. at the Carthage National Guard Armory.

All proceeds raised at this event will go to the MS Diabetes Foundation. Tickets will be available in advance and at the door for $10 a child with no charge for adults accompanying children.

To cap off the week's activities the Combined Church Choirs from First Baptist Church, Carthage United Methodist Church, and Trinity Baptist Church will present "Carols of Christmas" in the First Baptist Church sanctuary at 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8 and 9.
