The Mississippi 4-H Poster Art Program will be held again this year. The themes are 4-H: Framing the Future and an Open Theme which allows 4-H members to create a poster using their own theme.

We will collect posters at the county level and they will be awarded ribbons. We ask that all posters be turned in by May 1 into the county 4-H office. Our best posters will be submitted to state competition. 4-H Poster Art entries are due on the first day of 4-H Congress. There will be two age divisions of competition. They are juniors ages 8-13 and seniors ages 14-18. 4-H Posters will be placed in blue, red and white categories (except disqualified posters).

The three most outstanding posters in the state will receive cash awards: Senior - First Place $25; Second Place $15; and Third Place $10. Junior - First Place $15; Second Place $10; and Third Place $5.

The Poster Art program is an exhibit contest open to currently enrolled 4-H members. A 4-H member may submit only one poster in the state competition. There is no limit on the number of posters a county can submit, however quality is essential. We plan to send our blue ribbon posters.

The 4-H members name, age, county, full address, Theme Title, and brief interpretation of art work must be affixed to the back of the poster in the upper left hand corner. All posters must be designed on or affixed to .016 ply construction poster board (solid fiber board) of 14x22 dimensions. (This is half of the standard size sheet of poster board) Posters submitted to the State 4-H Office may be produced by any medium - ink, crayon, acrylic, charcoal, oil or collage - so long as they are not 3-dimensional. Posters incorporating copyrighted material, like the cartoon characters in ìPeanutsî, will not be accepted. Also open theme participants are urged to avoid ìJoin 4-Hî themes or theme ideas that have been used nationally in the past.
