Lisa Hull has been named the new superintendent of the Philadelphia Public School District.

Harold Coburn, Jr., president of the Philadelphia School District's board, announced the selection.

"On behalf of the board, I am pleased to announce the employment of Mrs. Lisa Hull as the district's new superintendent. Our decision was based on Mrs. Hull's experience and accomplishments as a strong district administrator and successful classroom teacher as well as her focus on school safety, student achievement, and support for extracurricular activity. She demonstrated her understanding of the challenges facing all school districts today, particularly as they take on the challenges of meeting new academic standards," Coburn said.
