Racers are gearing up for the Dixie Indoor Rumble go-kart race at the Neshoba County Coliseum on Sept. 13-14.

Event coordinator Laura Pender is excited for the event.

"I feel we'll have 150 to 200 racers," she said optimistically.

Registration for the race begins on Friday, Sept. 13. On Saturday at 7 a.m. the coliseum will open with practices starting at 10 a.m. and qualifiers to be held later that day.

The races will begin at 6 p.m.

Pender said racers will be attending from all over including Texas, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia.

The event will consist of 24 race classes from junior to pro. The ages of the racers are expected to be from 4-5 years up to 50 or 60-years-old, she said.

Registration ranges from $35, $55 and $65 depending on age. General admission will be $5.

Pender, along with her husband Jerry, coordinates the race to help raise money for the Mississippi Burn Camp. They started this after their daughter was injured as a child.

Last year's race held in Starkville raised $35,000 for the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital.

Their son Jacob, 14, also started racing seven years ago and has won upwards of $12,000 in that time.

Racing begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Admission is $5.
