Firefighters were called out to two separate house fires over the weekend.

Both fires were extinguished before firefighters arrived, officials said.

The first involved a house on County Road 427 between Laurel Hill and Edinburg around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Volunteers from Hope and Fairview and the members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians responded. When they arrived, they found family members had put the fire out.

Darrell Wilson, emergency management coordinator, reported the kitchen had significant damage and there was smoke damage to the house.

The second fire happened at a house on West Tucker Circle early Monday morning. The Tucker Volunteer Fire Department found the fire had been extinguished when volunteers arrived around 3 a.m.

The House and County Line departments were responding when they were canceled in route.
