Wednesday, July 10, 2013 1:00 AM
The Philadelphia Public Schools 2013-2014 Federal Programs and IDEA Part B Project Application will be available for review and public comment on Friday, July 19 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Philadelphia Public School District's Board Room located at 248 Byrd Ave.
The Philadelphia School District works diligently to provide effective educational programs to students.
Students with disabilities, ages 3 to 21, who are in need of special education and other services necessary to enable them to benefit from instruction as provided for in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and state law receive supplemental funding through IDEA Part B Project Application grant, officials said.
In addition, as part of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, the district may apply for and utilize federal funds to improve teaching and learning to meet student needs effectively in order to increase student learning and achievement through effective programming, professional development, parent and community involvement, and provision of a safe, orderly climate conducive to our teachers teaching and our students learning.
Ongoing broad-based planning and shared decision-making are essential for quality programming relative to both grants.
As required by the application, both grants must be made available for public comment.
