Construction is moving at a brisk pace on the new Family Dollar store, which plans to hire about 10 people initially when it opens in early spring.

The store is on east Main Street.

Cliff Cermak, community affairs specialist for Family Dollar, said they were thrilled to bring residents of Philadelphia their brand of value and convenience.

"This store will feature popular name brand merchandise and quality private brand merchandise, all at everyday low prices and in a convenient, easy-to-access layout," he said.

They expect to open in early spring 2014 and employ eight to 10 people.

"We aim to hire our team members from within the communities we serve, as we strive to be a great neighbor," Cermak said.

Mayor James Young said he was glad to see a new business coming to town.

"We take pride in our town and we hope they will be profitable," he said.

Construction started in early 2013.

The new Family Dollar is located next to Windham Tractor & Implement Co. on east Main Street.
