Temporary parking passes will be available as usual during the Neshoba County Fair starting on Friday, July 26, but not on Thursday, Fair Association President Gilbert Donald clarified this week.

In a change this year, cabin permits will be required after 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 25. There will be no temporary passes available only on Thursday, the Fair Association said.

After Thursday, temporary permits will be available throughout the Fair, as in the past, Donald said.

The $20 1-hour permits will allow Fairgoers inside the grounds to load or unload.

"If they return before the hour is up they can get their $20 back," Donald said. After an hour, the vehicle is subject to be towed.

With so many people moving into cabins and campers, Fair Manager Doug Johnson said traffic is extremely heavy on Thursdays.

"We are doing this because of the traffic congestion," he said. "This will hopefully ease the traffic inside the Fairgrounds. Security will be on hand on that Thursday."

The availability of temporary parking permits is part of the traffic rules for the Fair.

Other rules include:

• Fair Security will be on duty at gates one and two on Thursday, July 25 beginning at 6 p.m.

• A properly attached parking permit will be required for every vehicle which enters gates one and two after 6 p.m. on July 25.

• Gates three and four will not be open until 7 a.m. on Friday, July 26.

• Unauthorized vehicles without a valid parking permit will be towed beginning Friday, July 26 at 7 a.m.

• Camper parking permits may be picked up until 10 p.m. on July 25 at the camper permit building above gate two.
