Sheriff's deputies seized more than a half pound of marijuana and a Ford truck following a felony drug arrest last week.

Willie McGee, 54, of 134 Wilson Circle, Belzoni, was charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell after being arrested at a safety checkpoint Wednesday night, Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell said.

At the checkpoint on the city limits, deputies spotted a Ford F250 trying to avoid the stop by turning around, he said.

"Once the deputies stopped the vehicle, they came across a strong marijuana odor," the sheriff said.

A search of the vehicle turned up small bags of marijuana in the cab and a half pound bag concealed in a duffle bag in the bed, Waddell added.

The Sheriff's office seized the drugs and the truck.

"Hopefully the truck will become property of the county," Waddell said.

McGee remained in the Neshoba County Jail on $10,000 bond.
