MERIDIAN - Anderson Regional Medical Center has announce the addition of David Vowell to its Board of Directors.

Vowell, of Philadelphia, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to ARMC, officials said in a press release.

Along with his father and brother, he established Triple V, Inc. (Grocery Retail Group), where he worked for 22 years.  Vowell also worked as a teacher, coach and Assistant Principal.

Vowell currently serves as President of Community Development Partnership, Chairman of Philadelphia-Neshoba County Park Commission,  Chairman of in-school and out-of-school youth workforce with Twin District Workforce Council, United Methodist Hour Board Member, member of Mississippi Economic Development Council and Mississippi Economic Council, member of First United Methodist Church, member of Gideon Organization, member of Mississippi Country Music Commission, member of East Central Mississippi Economic Council, and member of ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers).

Vowell was voted Neshoba County Citizen of the Year in 2007.  He has served as president of Philadelphia Rotary Club and president of Philadelphia- Neshoba County Chamber of Commerce.

Vowell is a graduate of Noxapater High School.  He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Math Education and Physical Education from Mississippi State University.  He also received a Masters Degree in Secondary School Administration from MSU.  He is a graduate of the New South Economic Development Course at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Vowell and his wife Brenda have lived in Philadelphia for more than 30 years.  They have three children, Chris, Craig and Ginger, and three grandchildren.

Joining Vowell as members of the 2013-2014 ARMC Board of Directors are Dr. Joe Anderson, Dr. Shawn Anderson, Gay Whitworth, Jan Farrington, Phil Brooks and Dr. Keith Everett.

Anderson Regional Medical Center is the largest health care facility in East Mississippi/West Alabama and is home to the most established heart care center and the region's only comprehensive cancer center.
