Daniele Brock was recently selected Director of Housing and Student Activities at East Central Community College in Decatur, announced ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart.

Brock, who officially began her new duties on Dec. 15, 2013, previously held the position on an interim basis since August 12, 2013.

Dr. Stewart said Brock's performance during the interim period has been "exemplary," and that she has demonstrated her ability "to work with students of various backgrounds."

He said she has also demonstrated "strong communication, customer service and organizational skills" since assuming her duties.

Brock, who also serves as an adjunct instructor at ECCC, is a former elementary and secondary education teacher, serving in schools in Tennessee and Georgia.

She is also a former high school choral director.

Prior to joining the ECCC staff, Brock served as Worship Leader/Music Director at Folkston United Methodist Church in Folkston, Ga., from August 2010 to June 30, 2013.

Brock, a native of Mountain City, Tenn., received a bachelor's degree in music from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn., in 1991, and earned a master's degree in post-secondary education from Troy University in Brunswick, Ga., in 2010.

She completed an education specialist degree from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga., in 2012.

She is married to Scott Brock. They have a daughter, Makaeya, a 10th grader; and a son, Brooks, a seventh grader, who both attend Newton County schools.
