Woman charged in
burglary at Fair cabin
A Philadelphia woman was charged in connection with a September burglary of a cabin on the Neshoba County Fairgrounds were a number of appliances and other items were reported stolen.
Elizabeth Carol Ferguson, 43, of 105 St. Francis Dr., Apt. 13, is charged with the burglary of Cabin 244.
Warrants have been issued for two others in connection with the case.
Sheriff's Investigator Ralph Sciple said some of the stolen items were sold to a used appliance store in Philadelphia.
"The Fair Association was cutting a tree down somewhere close to the cabin and saw that the back door had been broken into," he said.
After the cabin owner provided authorities with the serial numbers for some of the appliances, an investigation led to the store.
"We are in the process of recovering the appliances - a chest deep freeze, refrigerator and microwave - from the people who purchased them from the store," Sciple said.
Several other items taken in the burglary have not been recovered, including an antique fan, lawn chairs, plastic tote, mixer, decorative plate and other miscellaneous items, he said.
A Preston woman was charged with an Oct. 2 robbery, which occurred at a residence close to the county line off Highway 21 north, the authorities said.
Shawna Jones, 24, of 114 Highway 21 south, Preston, was charged with taking an ipad and $200 from a man.
A second person is being sought in connection with the robbery.
Sheriff's Investigator Ralph Sciple said the robbery occurred after two acquaintances of the man got him to come outside the house where he was assaulted and the items taken.
