Man charged with possession of stolen firearm
A Philadelphia man has been charged with possession of a stolen firearm.
Samuel Boler, 22, of 256 Lewis Ave., was charged with possession of a stolen firearm after officers patrolling Westside Park came upon Boler parked playing loud music, Chief Grant Myers said.
"Upon further investigation they discovered a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun," Myers said. "The gun had been reported stolen from Lamar County."
Safety checkpoint leads to felony drug charge
Two people have been charged with felony drug possession following a safety checkpoint.
Leslie Henderson III, 41, of 1549 Burrage Road, Preston, and Misty Green, 33, of 12041 Mississippi 482, were charged with possession of a controlled substance, Chief Grant Myers said.
The pair was driving a grey Ford Expedition when they came to a safety checkpoint on Tuesday, June 3.
Officers discovered what they believed to be methamphetamine, the chief said.
