The start of the 70th Annual Choctaw Indian Fair begins tonight with an opening ceremony followed by the annual Choctaw Indian Princess Pageant.

The Fair will run July 10-13 on the reservation of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

There will be the usual carnival rides on the midway, food, drinks and top notch entertainment each night. But there are different traditions of the Choctaw people that make the Fair unique.

The World Series of Stickball opened last week with teams competing in the men’s division, the women’s division, the men’s 35 and over division, and the youth divisions. Championship matches will be played during the Fair following the entertainment shows.

The Choctaw Indian Fair officially opens at 6 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) with the opening ceremonies in the covered outside theater. The Choctaw Indian Princess Pageant will follow at 7 p.m.
