A burglary of a car parked at a residence on Golf Course Road is under investigation while police are also looking for a suspect in connection with an earlier series of burglaries.

The car burglary was reported at the 1100 block of Golf Course Road at 5:50 p.m. on Dec. 11 where the owner reported finding the passenger side window broken on their car.

Taken from the vehicle was a purse. No arrests have been made.

This is the most recent in a series of vehicle burglaries which included incidents near Mississippi 16 west and at Grace Baptist Church.

Police Investigator Fredesz Moore said the holiday season tends to see a rise in vehicle burglaries.

Moore said that an unnamed suspect is being sought for the Mississippi 16 burglaries where a watch, purse and ax were taken.

In addition, authorities are still investigating five additional car burglaries which occurred on Nov. 6 in the parking lot of Grace Baptist Church.

Back windows were broken out and purses taken from each of the cars during church services between 6 and 6:50 p.m.

No arrests have been made in any of the incidents.

Moore expects to see a rise in vehicle burglaries during the holiday season.

"People are out shopping more and will leave their purchases in their vehicles," he said.

He advises all citizens to not leave items in their vehicles but if they must to keep them out of sight.
