At least three people are dead in a second fatal wreck this week in Kemper County near Scooba, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The wreck Wednesday occurred at about 2:10 p.m. on Mississippi 45 south near the Lauderdale County line and involved four vehicles, including an empty school bus, the authorities said.

A vehicle traveling southbound crossed the median and struck three others, according to the Highway Patrol.

Kemper County Sheriff James Moore spoke briefly to The Associated Press from the scene of the wreck, which he described as "chaos." He confirmed one of the vehicles involved was an empty school bus.

Officials said there were multiple other injuries.
