The holiday season starts Sunday with Philadelphia’s annual Holiday Open House from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Philadelphia Main Street Association has a busy schedule of events to draw shoppers to the downtown stores over the holidays.

Third Thursday events are set for Nov.21 and Dec. 19, with the stores staying open from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Shoppers will want to check out afterhours sales.

The Christmas Parade will be held Monday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. There were nearly 90 entries last year. Entry forms can be picked up at the Depot or online at neshoba.org.

The popular “A Very Library Christmas” is slated for Saturday, Dec. 7, starting at 9 a.m. Santa will be available for photos at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Moonlight Madness is Thursday, Dec. 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“Last year was a good one for our downtown stores,” said Tim Moore, Main Street Association director. “The extra night time hours give people a chance to come downtown after work, walk around and see what we have here in Philadelphia. We encourage everyone to shop locally.”
