Four parcels of property owned by a Philadelphia alderman are listed on the delinquent tax list for 2012.

Ward 4 Alderman Cecil Nichols owes $3,525.12 in unpaid taxes on four parcels, according to the delinquent tax list published earlier this month in the Democrat.

"I take care of mine [taxes]," Nichols said Tuesday. "But sometimes I'm late."

Nichols, along with the mayor and other aldermen, verbally agreed last week to raise the city's millage rate from 10 to 20 to generate an additional $565,000 in ad valorem taxes for the general fund budget for 2014.

The millage increase would double the amount of city taxes paid on a house or business.

A hearing for public comment on the budget is set for Tuesday at 5 p.m.

The hearing is at city hall.
