The Neshoba County Extension Service would like to thank all of the exhibitors who exhibited items in the Exhibit Hall at the 2014 Neshoba County Fair. Neshoba County has many talented exhibitors who take much pride in their handiwork, gardening, field crops and food preservation skills. They spend many hours each year preparing their exhibits for the Neshoba County Fair and we appreciate their participation. This year there were 110 adults exhibiting approximately 2,465 items.
The total premium money awarded in the Adult Division for the 2014 Neshoba County Fair was $11,035.00. The Best of Show ribbons went to Ansley Hudson-6, Willis Cumberland-1, Misty Roberts-1, Dorothy Pierce-1, and Margaret Crenshaw-1.
Our top five Blue Ribbon Winners were Fannie Cumberland-78, Willis Cumberland-41, Dianne Guthrie-37, Cathy Smith-35 and Cassidy Coleman-33. The total ribbon count for the 2014 Neshoba County Fair Adult division were 914 Blue Ribbons, 901 Red Ribbons and 650 White Ribbons.
This was the 125th anniversary of the Neshoba County Fair, and to celebrate we added a special theme category of Quilts; Family, Fun and Friendship. If you didn't get an opportunity to see the 70 plus quilts on display then you missed a treat. These individuals worked tireless hours to construct these quilts and their work was very much appreciated by those who got an opportunity to see the beautiful work. Winners of the special quilt show were: first place - Martha Dubard, second place - Lois Ford, third place - Adelene McMillan and honorable mention - Clara Ann Lewis.
We had very good participation in the Exhibit Hall at the Neshoba County Fair this year. The Fresh Fruits and Vegetables and Food Preservation divisions have grown over the past several years and we look forward to this trend continuing next year. If you have skills in arts and crafts, gardening or food preservation and didn't exhibit at this year's fair, you should consider exhibiting your work at the fair next year. To show at the fair you must stop by the Neshoba County Extension Office prior to the fair to pick up exhibitors number and tags and stickers for the items that you plan to exhibit. For everyone who exhibited this year, we certainly thank you for all of your work and we look forward to seeing you at the fair again next year.
