Two people died in a house fire early Sunday morning between the Dixon and Dowdville communities off of County Road 402.

The names of the deceased are not being released at this time, according to Neshoba County Coroner John Stephens. The cause of the fire has not been determined, though a full investigation is underway.

The house was completely destroyed by the fire. The matter is being investigated by the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Department. The state Fire Marshal was also on the scene Sunday assisting with the investigation.

“The fire marshal was there early Sunday morning and walked the scene,” said Sheriff Eric Clark. “We have not received his report (as of Tuesday morning).”

Clark had no other information available Tuesday regarding the fire.

The Dixon, Fairview and Hope volunteer fire departments responded to the fire call at around 2:15 a.m. The Neshoba County Sheriff’s Department and Neshoba County Emergency Management also responded to the fire.

In an unrelated case, a house in the Dixon community was destroyed by fire Saturday morning. The house was located off of County Road 434. Authorities say no one was injured in that fire and that the matter was still being investigated.
