Three suspects were being held for questioning in connection with an early morning shooting on east Myrtle Street which injured two men over the weekend, Police Investigator Fredesz Moore said.

David McCarty and Mason Lewis were both shot while walking to McCarty's home on Myrtle Street about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Moore said.

Lewis was struck in his right leg and was treated and later released from Neshoba County General Hospital.

McCarty was struck in his left ankle and was taken to Anderson Hospital in Meridian.

We don't have a motive yet, said Moore, but both men have provided information to us.

The shots were fired from the side of the house, he said.

No arrests have been made but three suspects have been detained in the course of the investigation, Moore said.

"We're working to determine who was involved," he said.
