A Philadelphia man has been charged with murder and arson in connection with a fire, which claimed the life of a woman early Saturday morning.

Daniel Williamson, 46, of 140 Sistrunk Ave., was charged Monday afternoon by Philadelphia Police.

The woman's name has not been released by authorities, pending DNA testing.

The fire, at Williamson's mobile home, was reported at 5:15 a.m. Saturday.

Smoke was pouring out of windows and doors when firefighters arrived, Police Chief Bill Cox said.

The remains were found inside after the blaze was brought under control, he said.

Fire Investigator Ralph Sciple said the source of the blaze "seemed suspicious" as an accelerant was found at the scene.

"An investigation is under way," he added, noting the state fire marshal had been called in to assist.
