An order directing the city attorney to draft an ordinance that would allow the unrestricted sale of alcoholic beverages in the city was approved Tuesday night by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
During a specially called city board meeting, the Mayor and current Aldermen met with Russell Hanna of the Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control.
He told the board that their only option was whether alcoholic beverages would be restricted to just restaurants or not.
Ward 1 Alderman Joe Tullos brought forward the measure to allow unrestricted sales, which would allow package liquor stores in the city.
It was unanimously approved.
