RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Mayor and Board of Alderman of the City of Philadelphia that another of our own, Matthew Ryan Stovall, has paid the supreme sacrifice for freedom in this world, and;

WHEREAS, it is the sincere desire of the Board of Alderman and Mayor of the City of Philadelphia to recognize the immeasurable price Matthew Ryan Stovall has paid for our freedom, and to express to his family our deepest sympathy, and;

WHEREAS, Matthew Ryan Stovall, a twenty-five year old graduate of Neshoba Central High School, the son of Buck and Ellon Stovall, the husband of Natalie Stovall and the father of Walker Stovall, made a decision to offer himself in defense of his country for freedom in the world by volunteering to serve with the 367th Maintenance Company to go with the first group of Neshoba County National Guardsmen to be deployed to Iraq, and;

WHEREAS, the courage, bravery and dedication to the preservation of our lifestyle as we know it prompted Matt to make this decision and commit himself to fight in the battle for freedom where he ultimately lost his life.

IT IS the desire of this Board that his life and service be publicly commended and honored and that as a token of our appreciation for his sacrifice. We express to his family our deepest sympathy.

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Board of Alderman and Mayor of the City of Philadelphia that the life, service and sacrifice of Matthew Ryan Stovall should be and it is hereby commended. For his bravery and his devotion to his family, country, state, nation and his desire to do his part to help preserve peace in our world, we will be forever grateful.

IT IS THEREFORE our desire to remember and honor the life of Matthew Ryan Stovall and to commend his memory forever.
