  • Matt Stovall's smile was contagious and so were the energy and drive with which he awoke every morning, his fellow soldiers who served with him in Iraq say, and that drove them to follow him at all costs, even in the hellish landscape of war.
  • Among the tributes pouring in from Iraq for 1st Lt. Matthew Ryan Stovall are those from the 401st Transport Company to which he was attached four months ago.

  • WHEREAS, when the 367th Maintenance Company received notification that it would be ordered to Active Duty to support Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom, many individuals volunteered to serve in this unit to protect the freedoms our Community, State and Nation enjoyed;
  • The only peace during such a difficult time as this — the second death of a Neshoba man in Iraq — comes from resting in the knowledge of a sovereign, unchanging Lord.
  • When the 367th Maintenance Company left for Iraq last September the entire Philadelphia Elementary School turned out at the end of Stribling Street waving banners and chanting “U.S.A, U.S.A!”
  • When Matt Stovall talked about opening schools in Iraq and providing clean drinking water to the people there, his parents knew he had found his niche in the military.
