A shop was destroyed and several houses damaged early Thursday morning after severe weather moved through the area.
Neshoba County was under a tornado watch when high winds destroyed the shop, which contained an apartment on Road 519 in the Beat Line community.
A mobile home was dislocated off its block during the storm, which also downed some trees and power lines in the same area.
Neshoba County Emergency Management Director Jeff Mayo said a tornado had been reported in Newton County about the same time.
"It looked like real strong winds on the radar for Neshoba County at the time," Mayo said.
Representatives of the National Weather Service in Jackson were expected to tour the damaged area later this week, Mayo said.
