Neshoba County posted the state's sixth lowest unemployment rate in January.

The county's jobless rate dropped to 8.1 percent in January. It was at 8.7 percent in December and 8.4 percent in November.

The lowest unemployment rate for January was in Rankin County at 6.3 percent. DeSoto and Madison counties posted jobless rates of 6.9 percent.

Lamar County had the state's fourth lowest rate of 7.6 percent, followed by Jones at 7.9 percent.
