The Neshoba County Sheriff’s Department arrested and charged a local man with possession of methamphetamine after a disturbance was reported in the Sandtown community early Monday morning.

James Edward Baugh, 49, was arrested and charged near a residence on County Road 636 in the Sandtown community following a traffic stop in response to a reported disturbance in the area at 4 a.m. on Monday.

Sheriff Tommy Waddell said that he gave a Road 628 address in the city, though it was determined that he does not live there.

Waddell said that deputies seized 21 grams of crystal methamphetamine. He said that Baugh initially resisted arrest, though he was brought in without injuries.

As of Monday afternoon, Baugh remains in the Neshoba County jail and has not had bond set.

Baugh was also listed on the county jail docket in October, when he was charged with illegally concealing a gun and perjury.
