Miss Mary Therrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Therrell, and student at East Central Junior College at Decatur, was recently elected Secretary-Treasurer of her class.

Winners of the Beauty Contest held at Bloomo Box Supper are Nelie Kate Permenter, 3rd grade; Shirley Jean Jones, 5th grade; and Helen thomas, 11th grade.



NOVEMBER 26, 1959

Miss Gretchen Germany has been awarded a four-year pre-nursing scholarship to the University Medical center in Jackson. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Germany. Miss Germany plans to finish her freshman year at East central and enter the Medical Center in June of 1960.

 

NOVEMBER 27, 1969

Seaman Apprentice Paul A. Tullos was presented the Navy Commendation Medal and is authorized to wear the combat “V” for his heroic achievements while serving with friendly foreign forces in the Republic of Vietnam. Tullos is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Tullos.

 

NOVEMBER 29, 1979

Selected for the All-Mid-Mississippi Athletic Conference football team were Marcus Dupree, Dewayne Rogers, Charles Ray McAfee, Rayford Manning, Randy Sharp, Tony Thomas, Scott Evans, Glenn Willis, John Webb, Ronnie Hunter, William Leach, and Douglas Patrick.



NOVEMBER 29, 1989

Stanley Dearman accepts the Citizen of the Year Award at the annual banquet of the Philadelphia- Neshoba County Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Donald Zacharias, president of Mississippi State University, served as the guest speaker.  





NOVEMBER 31, 1999

Kristy Ward, of the Neshoba Central Future Farmers of America chapter, was awarded with the Star Greenhand award. Presenting her with the award is Rusty Suttle, advisor. She is the daughter of Edgar and Lela Ward. She was a member of the parliamentary procedure team which placed first in the state.



NOVEMBER 25, 2009

A special meritorious service award was presented to Patricia Burton, director of the Neshoba County, Philadelphia and Choctaw Disability Children’s Foundation.
