Philadelphia’s sales tax returns were up for the second month in a row, according to the Mississippi Department of Revenue’s June 2019 sales tax diversion report.

Municipalities collect state sales tax and receive a sales tax diversion (or portion) back from the state each month. While not definite, this is a general indicator of business growth in a community.

Philadelphia received $391,980 last month, which was up $15,017 from the $376,963 received in June 2018. For the fiscal year, Philadelphia has received $4,293,789. That is down $41,866 when compared to the same point last which stood at $4,335,655.
