Noxapater scored twice in the third quarter and held on to beat Union 20-7 Friday night in prep football action.

The Yellowjackets, now 1-2, will return home this Friday night to host the J.Z. George Jaguars. J.Z. George, a 3A school, comes in at 0-3 following last week’s 41-6 loss against Water Valley.

The Tigers struck first when KD Carter ran two yards for touchdown in the second quarter. The try for two failed and Noxapater led 6-0.

Union bounced back when quarterback Colby Ferguson ran into the end zone from six yards out. Henry Thornton kicked the extra point and Union led 7-6.

Carter scored twice in the third quarter.

The Yellowjackets rushed 32 times for 146 yards while completing 11-of-21 passes for 106 yards, giving them 252 total yards. Ferguson had all of the passing yards and led the team in rushing with 83 yards on 15 rushes. Kenyon Clay had 48 yards rushing yards on 18 carries, and caught three passes for 28 yards. Trevor Patchin had two catches for 29 yards.
