Lady Tornadoes look toward playoffs

The Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes went 3-2 last week as they look toward the Class 3A fast-pitch softball playoffs.

The Lady Tornadoes entered the week with a 13-7 record. They were to host Enterprise on Tuesday.
Last week, Philadelphia defeated Southeast Lauderdale 9-0. They then dropped a 1-0 decision to Neshoba Central. Philadelphia defeated Choctaw County on Thursday and then played two games on Friday. They defeated Enterprise 10-2 and then lost a 6-5 decision to Newton County.
“We are preparing for the playoffs,” Coach Jordan Flake said. “We are still working on different things and trying to get better.”
The Lady Tornadoes drew a first round bye. Their first action will be April 25 and 27.

The Lady Tornadoes kept Southeast Lauderdale off the scoreboard as they claimed the victory.
Philadelphia scored two in the first, one in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Nia Luckett was the winning pitcher. She struck out nine batters and allowed two hits.
Zharia Jordan hit a double and a single. Marsha’ Hunt, Shania Moore and Kamyrn Moore all hit a double and a single while Alyssa Davis, Macy Goldman and Luckett all had one hit.
Neshoba Central 1
The Lady Rockets scored one run to break open a 0-0 game.
Macy Goldman took the pitching loss. T.K. Cole had Philadelphia’s only hit.
Choctaw County 1
The Lady Tornadoes broke open a tie game with four runs in the sixth inning as they defeated Choctaw County.
Philadelphia scored one in the fifth while the Lady Chargers scored on in the top sixth.
Goldman was the winning pitcher.
The Lady Tornadoes had six hits. T.K. Cole hit a triple while Davis and Hunt both hit a double. Goldman hit two singles and Moore hit a single.
Philadelphia got off to a fast start as they defeated Enterprise on the road.
The Lady Tornadoes scored two in the first, four in the second, and four in the seventh. Enterprise answered with two in the first.
Jada White hit two doubles and two singles to pace Philadelphia. Hunt and Goldman both hit a double while Luckett hit a double and a single.
Newton County 6
Newton County held off a Philadelphia rally to defeat the Lady Tornadoes.
Newton County scored one in the fourth and five in the fifth. The Lady Tornadoes scored four in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Goldman took the pitching loss. She had five strike outs.
Luckett led with two singles while Davis hit a double and a single. White hit a single.
