A Philadelphia man pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges in Circuit Court last week and now faces 20 years in prison for killing his great-grandmother.

Tyshawn Donald, 21, 261 Kelly St., reached a plea agreement with the District Attorney’s Office. It was accepted in Circuit Court. He had been indicted on murder charges in the slaying of his great-grandmother, Mrs. Della “Cecil” Smiley Donald, 80, who was apparently shot while riding in a car with Donald/

Mrs. Donald’s body was dumped out of a car on Lewis Avenue shortly after 8:30 a.m. on March 29, 2017. Police had originally thought she was a victim of a hit-and-run.  Mrs. Donald was taken by ambulance to the county hospital where she was pronounced dead.

“We talked with the family and they were satisfied with this,” said District Attorney Steven Kilgore.
