A young girl remains hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night in what authorities said was a hit-and-run.
Investigator Marsha Bavetta said the young girl was struck by what was believed to be a dark Trailblazer at the Gamestop parking lot off South Lewis Avenue at 5:40 p.m. Thursday.
"The girl was walking with her parents when the vehicle came through," Bavetta said, noting that the driver is believed to be a woman.
"She [the driver] didn't call in and report the accident," Bavetta said.
The child was transported to Neshoba County General Hospital by the parents before being airlifted to the University Medical Center in Jackson.
Bavetta asked that anyone who might have witnessed the incident to call the police at 601-656-2131.
