A 16-year-old juvenile was shot early Wednesday morning and airlifted to a Jackson hospital, the authorities said.

The juvenile was shot one time in the chest area outside a residence on Martin Luther King Drive and was taken by ambulance to Neshoba County General Hospital and later airlifted to Jackson, Chief of Police Grant Myers.

The shooting occurred shortly after 1 a.m.

The juvenile was listed in stable condition, Myers said.

The case remains under investigation.
