The Philadelphia Public School District has announced a delayed start date of Aug. 17 due to newly released guidance from the state Department of Health.

The district will monitor conditions and may further extend the student start date if needed, officials said.

Teachers report on Aug. 3 as scheduled. “The health and well being of our students, families and staff continues to be our primary focus,” officials said.

Neshoba Central had announced they will return Aug. 5. Leake Academy will begin half day Aug. 6 and 7 with full days starting Monday, Aug. 10.

Union Public Schools will begin a staggered start Aug. 5 through Aug. 28. Full days will begin the following Monday.

Students at Choctaw Tribal Schools will return Aug. 31. Faculty and staff will return Aug. 3.
