Bobby Hall has resigned as head football coach and athletic director at Philadelphia High School, effective immediately.

He informed superintendent Lisa Hull of his decision on Sunday.

“I thought I was the man for this job. Obviously, I am not. I cannot get these children to respond to me so I am going to step aside and let someone else take this role,” Hall said in a statement to the Democrat Monday.

Hall’s decision to leave came after the Tornadoes’ 38-14 loss to Bay Springs this past Friday night.

Hall is one of Mississippi’s winningest high school coaches with 310 victories over 41 years of coaching. He took the Philadelphia job last spring after longtime Tornadoes Coach Teddy Dyess resigned to take become the head football coach and athletic director at Magee High School.

Hall declined to discuss his reasons for resigning other then what he said in the statement.
