Two people were arrested with meth at a roadblock between Laurel Hill and Hope last month.

The driver, James Terrell Carter, 44, 357 Wilson Road, Decatur, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

The passenger, Frederica Cotton, 31, 10169 Road 773, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, Clark said.

Deputies encountered the pair at the intersection of Highway 488 and Road 339  at about 6:30 p.m., on Apri 27.

Deputies said Carter was driving with a suspended license. Clark said deputies could see a small bag of crystal meth in the area of the gear shift.

“Neither in the car took responsibility for it,” Clark said.

A search of the vehicle also found a pipe.

A search of Cotton found another bag of crystal meth. Clark described it as a “large amount, more than an eight ball.” An eight ball is slang for about 3.5 grams of meth.
